About Us
Salvies Who Lunch (SWL) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 2018 dedicated to amplifying Salvadorans of all backgrounds through cultural events. Our mission is to create inclusive experiences that celebrate, educate, and explore the beauty of culture through music, arts, and cuisine.
Our events support the mission of amplifying and educating. The signature event, Chévere, showcases emerging talent from visual artists, filmmakers, live performances, and small businesses. The annual event is a multi-generational, bicultural one-of-a-kind experience for individuals to broaden their view on Salvadoran art and music. Our foodie event, Pupusa Fest, provides a unique opportunity for attendees of all backgrounds to learn about El Salvador’s traditional dishes from a panel of chefs, authors, and influencers, while savoring Salvadoran American flavors from food vendors. Thus, creating an evolution of cultures.
An expansion of the SWL brand, Bichitos Club & Bichitas Club, is a program educating children to celebrate culture with pride. This program will highlight Salvadoran and Central American art and culture. Local community leaders, artists such as muralists, artisans, musicians, and others will be special guests to hold workshops, speaking engagements to inspire the next generation of leaders.
SWL also curates special programming and events with community partners throughout the year, such as our collaboration with La Plaza de Cultura y Artes (LAPCA) in creating an LGBTQIA+ event: Jotería, that showcases the vibrant and fierce community in Los Angeles. Other collaborations and notable partners have included, The Los Angeles Times, Telemundo 52, NBC4, Macy’s, The Los Angeles LGBT Center, AltaMed, Lil’ Libros, The Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival, The Fernando Llort Foundation , LA Pride Village and more.
SWL programs are supported by sponsorships, donations, and corporate partners. Please make a tax-deductible donation now and support us providing these educational experiences to community.
